Description

Spectrum Center (formerly Time Warner Cable Arena) in Charlotte, North Carolina was constructed using approximately 500,000 concrete masonry units manufactured with Stalite Lightweight Aggregate. The 780,000-square-foot arena serves as the home of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets and hosts a wide range of major sporting events, concerts, and entertainment throughout the year.

The facility required durable masonry construction capable of supporting large public assembly spaces and the structural demands of a major sports and entertainment venue. Lightweight aggregate masonry reduced overall structural dead load while maintaining the strength, fire resistance, and long-term durability required for a building of this scale.
