Description

Annapolis Junction Business Park Building 7 is a four-story office building located near Fort Meade in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The project was designed to meet Department of Defense Medium Level of Protection criteria for both blast resistance and progressive collapse, exceeding typical GSA protection standards.

The structure incorporates 32 tilt-up panels produced with 6,000 psi structural lightweight concrete. Stalite Lightweight Aggregate supplied the lightweight aggregate used in the mix design, reducing panel weight, minimizing joints, and allowing the 30-foot by 64-foot panels to remain within crane capacity limits.

A 3,500 psi lightweight concrete mix was also used for the composite elevated floors to reduce progressive collapse loads. The building features 14′-6″ floor-to-floor heights, wide panel spans meeting “lost leg” analysis requirements, and a high glass-to-wall ratio approaching 50 percent while maintaining strict DoD performance standards.
