From Quarry to Quality

Stalite’s production process is engineered for precision and consistency, ensuring that every ton of our lightweight aggregate meets the highest standards of performance.

Mining

At our dedicated production facilities in Gold Hill and Aquadale, NC, we selectively mine high-quality slate to ensure optimal raw material characteristics.

Heating

The slate is heated to 2,200°F in rotary kilns, transforming it into lightweight aggregate through controlled expansion.

Washing & Refining

Our Hydro-Clean 1000 system delivers superior cleanliness, making our aggregate ideal for even the most sensitive applications.

Delivery

After rigorous quality control and grading, the finished aggregate is shipped to customers across a wide range of industries throughout the United States and beyond.

Quality Control

Our goal is to deliver the highest quality and most consistent lightweight aggregate to our customers. To ensure this, we conduct weekly quality control tests on both raw materials and finished aggregate in our on-site labs at our Gold Hill and Aquadale production facilities.

Consistency of Material Properties

We have statistically analyzed our relative density and gradation test results since 2003 for each size of coarse aggregate that we produce. The results, demonstrate the success of our commitment to quality and consistency.
